The watermill, called “Su Mulinu Vezzu” is located in the upper part of the town, particularly suggestive also for its thick vegetation. It is closely linked to the economy of the past, when the country was among the most active on the island in terms of wheat production and processing of its derivatives. The mill dates back to the eighteenth century and has been restored and made functional again, so much so that it can still be used today.
It is a construction made of exposed stone and is divided into two complementary parts: two tall walls contain the large water wheel that, with its driving force, puts into action the stone necessary for milling. Above it, embedded in the stone, there is a small channel that collects water. Next to it is the actual mill building with a uniform façade interrupted only by two small windows.
Inside, paved in stone, you can see the wooden gears that, receiving the driving force of the water, set in motion the mechanism that allows the large stone wheel to grind wheat. Objects and tools typical of milling are displayed in various environments.
