Nuxis, Sacred Well of Tattinu

The sacred well is connected to a village of huts of different types of planimetric layout.
The Tattinu well differs from other nuragic wells due to the absence of visible structures and the vestibule. Another peculiarity is the linear continuity of the ladder (28-29 steps) and the water compartment, which together form a rectangular void 8.12 m long and 1.25-1.10 m wide. Even the “bottle-shaped” section of the well, elliptical in plan (1.82 x 1.25 m height 5.12 m), differentiates it from the wellhead temples of Sardinia. The internal masonry work is multifaceted. Among the old votes found in the chapel, all made of ceramic, we remember some globoid pots with a flat hem, pot-bellied pots with an inverted elbow, flapped fairing bowls and edge-shaped bowls, referring to the final bronze, and some pyriform vases decorated with a dotted pattern.

History of excavations
In 2002 and 2003, Fabio Nieddu conducted archaeological investigations on behalf of the Superintendence for Archaeological Heritage for the Provinces of Cagliari and Oristano, under the scientific direction of Vincenzo Santoni.

How to get there
Along the SS 293, after the town of Nuxis in the direction of Villaperuccio, at Is Pittaus turn left and follow the signs for the Sant'Elia church; before the latter, turn left and go beyond the town of Tattinu.
