Nuoro, Government Building

The building was born as a headquarters for the Civil Engineers (1936), but was immediately destined to a government building, as the prefecture was then indicated, due to the economic impossibility of completing the 1929-32 competition for that institution.
Based on this competition launched in 1929, but with long and inconclusive events, the building had to be built on a trapezoidal area on differences in height in front of the old railway station, where the Palazzo della Provincia is today. Among the most significant projects is that of the illustrious architect Cesare Bazzani, an Italian academic, supplied in two versions, however unrealized.
The current building has the main entrance on the corner of the area, framed by a single artificial stone frame that embraces the three levels, welcoming in order the door, the balcony, a window. On the other two sides, there are three floors with two orders of arched openings in the first two, and an upper one, of windows developed in length, according to the principles of the Modern Movement.
