It is set up inside the Assai Oasis, a beautiful natural environment characterized by granite, cork, oak and Mediterranean scrub, as well as an area for the repopulation of deer and fallow deer. It is attached to the guest house of the forest yard and is located in a renovated building that was a shelter for shepherds and flocks, when this area was a public pasture. There are on display, in a single environment, specimens stuffed with Sardinian fauna and a few others not Sardinian (flamingo, sea turtle). A diorama reproduces a corner of the natural forest, with a beautiful specimen of golden eagle (which nests in the territory of Nughedu Santa Vittoria), the oak mouse, the buzzard, the fallow deer, wild boars, weasels, the wild cat, the sparrowhawk. There is a xylotheca, with longitudinal and transverse sections of numerous wood essences from the Mediterranean scrub and tall trunk, and a collection of minerals and fossils of island origin. The material on display is classified by common name, scientific name and Sardinian name. Some panels illustrate the various animal and plant species. The visit ends, outside the museum, by a charcoal pit and a pastoral pinette built according to traditional techniques.
