Cagliari, Balletto Palace

The building is located along Viale Trieste on the corner of Via XXIX Novembre and is part of the bustling construction activity between the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, which distinguishes in particular the area surrounding Piazza del Carmine.
Built between 1918 and 1921 on a design by the engineer Riccardo Simonetti, it is one of the most interesting buildings due to the combination of Liberty elements with an eclectic style, thanks to the complexity of the solutions adopted. The most significant aspect concerns the construction angle, solved with the triple overlap of the bowindow that is repeated differently for each of them. The two fronts have openings and balconies of different types on the three levels, but all are richly decorated with an ornamentation that brings together concrete, iron and terracotta. Some finishes such as the retractable shutters on the ground floor and the doors and most of the fixtures are still perfectly preserved.
