Buddusò, Necropolis of Ludurru

The necropolis is excavated in a granite outcrop of the Buddusò plateau, near Buddusò, in northeastern Sardinia.
The necropolis (chronologically framed in the final Neolithic period, 3200-2800 BC) It consists of six hypogeans.
Tomb I consists of a rectangular pavilion that leads, through a door, into the rectangular antechamber; this is decorated along the perimeter of the floor and ceiling by relief bands. On the ceiling, at the back wall, you can see a semicircular relief.
From the anticell, the central chamber is accessed through two raised entrances surmounted by parallel bands painted red. The cell, with a rectangular plan, is expanded by two subsidiary rooms, one of which has a semicircular plan with an oven vault.
Tombs II and III have a simple irregular single-celled system. In Hypogeum III there is a small semicircular niche with an oven vault.
Tomb IV, with a multicellular planimetric development, has an antecell with a counter and a cup made on the floor. On the d. wall, the entrance opens to two coaxial subsidiary compartments, while on the back wall there is access, through a door with a manhole, to the central cell. In the latter, the presence of two semicolumns can be detected.
Tomb V consists of a pavilion that leads, through a recessed door, into a second room. This compartment, which has a semicircular plan, a flat vault and rounded corners, leads, on the right side, into a subsidiary compartment, always with a semicircular plan.
The last hypogeum, Tomb VI, is similar to the previous one: it has a pavilion and central cell with a semicircular plan, on the back wall of which the entrance opens, leading to a rounded subsidiary compartment with a flat vault.

History of excavations
The area has been known since the beginning of the last century thanks to Taramelli's studies.

How to get there
From Nuoro, take the SS 389 in the direction of the industrial area of Prato Sardo. Cross the SS 131 dir and continue to Bitti without going through any inhabited center. Cross the town, continue on the SS 389 in the direction of Buddusò. The necropolis is located about 200 m from the NE outskirts of the town of Buddusò. It can be reached by following the direction of Via Giovanna D'Arco.
