Young island cinema will be presented on August 5 as part of the MusaMadre Festival. The short film festival “Sardinian Visions” has, in fact, been included in the more than 40 events of the MusaMadre Festival, which since 24 July has been animating the ancient and uninhabited town, thirty houses, a few kilometers from Bonorva, in the medieval village of Rebeccu (How to get there).
Artists from all disciplines, intellectuals and writers of art, literature, fashion, journalism, science, cinema, television, theater and dance have flocked to the very small and magical village, placing it at the center of the island's cultural life.
The Festival
founded four years ago by MusaMadre has grown exponentially, involving Bonorva and its entire territory in the programming. The Festival now enjoys international visibility as it opened a few months ago in New York at The Center at West Park theater where the show 'In Sardinia, in New York' was staged, starring the Pauliccu Mossa Choir by Bonorva and the American journalist Jeff Biggers.
The theme of this edition is IMPERFECTION, an exploration of how imperfections can be a source of beauty, creativity and growth. “An invitation to the public to reflect on how imperfection is part of our daily lives and how it can be celebrated rather than feared” - said artistic director Valeria Orani - “On the other hand, MusaMadre, a physical and immaterial place at the same time, was born from day one as an inclusive space in which diversity and imperfections are recognized as sources of value and creativity.”
Many guests discuss the topic: Giuliano Battiston, journalist and freelance researcher, director of Lettera22, Francesca Coin, sociologist expert in work and social inequalities, Telmo Pievani, philosopher of biology, evolutionist, essayist, presenter and television and theatrical author who will perform with the theatrical and musical play “Water Song” accompanied by Cristiano Godano.
There are also many appointments with the theater that include the performance of actress Marleen Scholten, the writer Matteo Porru, Cristina Donadio and Giuseppe Affinito, historic stage partners of Enzo Moscato who died recently and Maurizio Rippa.
The American choreographer and dancer Richard Move will bring to Rebeccu a unique and unrepeatable interaction between Dance and Territory.
The composer Gianluca Misiti and the astronomer Ettore Perozzi will be together in “Rock Around the Planet” an evening dedicated to heavenly stars and music.
For the duration of the Festival, the designer Antonio Marras will dress up Piazza Santa Giulia with the installation of the Orphanelles loaned by the City of Naples.
Director Sergio Naitza will curate the photographic exhibition focusing on the adventurous creation, (Alghero 1968), of 'Boom' starring Richard Burton, Elizabeth Taylor directed by Joe Losey.
