The building is located at an altitude of 431 m above sea level, on the slopes of the hill of Santa Barbara, on a spur of rock overlooking the Semus river.
It is a typical single-tower nuraghe with a circular plan. The wall work consists of medium and large blocks of sandstone, well worked and arranged in horizontal rows. The tower is preserved for a maximum height of m 9 with 16 rows of stones.
The entrance to the monument (2.20 m high), facing S, is surmounted by an lintel equipped with an exhaust window. The corridor behind it has an ogival section that gradually increases in height towards the entrance to the chamber (h max. m 5). In the d. part of the corridor, the stairwell door opens and on the s. - faced - the small guardhouse. The staircase, which can only be easily traveled for a short distance, still has a few steps.
The “atholos” chamber, with a circular plan (diameter m 4), eccentric with respect to the perimeter of the tower, has three niches arranged in a cross that measure an average of m 2 x 3 in height. The 'Tholos', missing the closing stone - 'restored' in recent times with concrete -, has a height of 8.60 m with 18 rows.
A village, suspected by stones and the remains of circular wall structures, stretched around the nuraghe.
History of studies
The nuraghe has been known since the Taramelli report in 1935.

How to get
There You leave Scano Montiferro to the East, on the road to Borore and after about 2 km, before arriving at the church of Santa Barbara or Sant'Arvara, you will see the Abbaudi nuraghe in the valley on the left, placed on a spur of rock above the Semus River, inside the land of a farm. Nearby, a few meters from the nuraghe, are the homonymous domus de janas: one is located to the northeast and the other to the southwest.
