Sassari, Bank of Sardinia

The building was created to house the headquarters of the Agricultural Credit. Today it is the administrative headquarters and headquarters of the General Management of the Banco di Sardegna and houses the Mario Sironi Collection, which can only be visited by appointment during the opening hours of the offices of the general management.
Built around 1928 to a design by the engineer Bruno Cipelli, who supplied two versions with a progressive reduction of elements related to academic language, the building has a heavy ashlar in the base with well-highlighted arches along the entire front. The overhanging central body is closed by a decorated cornice and vertically marked by tall pilasters that frame the “serlian” openings with arches and lintels supported by columns. The two side parts have symmetric windows, but different in the various floors: in the central one, the arched openings are surmounted by an elegant horizontal frame, in the last, the rectangular openings are decorated with festoons and curvilinear drums.
The building gains more breathing space in the rear façade, which is also the least visible, due to the difference in altitude that allows greater height and development.
