Santadi, House Museum “Sa Domu Antiga”

Santadi, House Museum “Sa Domu Antiga”

The Museum is housed in a building in the center of the town, built at the beginning of the twentieth century and representative of the typical peasant homes of Sulcis. In the various rooms, the different environments have been recreated: the bedroom, the dining room, the kitchen and the anteroom with the furniture and utensils essential for domestic activities.
The wooden frame is equipped with all the accessories and is still working. You can also see the materials for the weaving and natural coloring of wool and for the processing of raw linen, which was used to make bags, and fine linen intended for the manufacture of shirts and sheets. In the outdoor courtyard, where there is the typical well, there are tools for cultivation, for baking and for winemaking. The spaces and tools intended for animal husbandry are also very interesting. A space is dedicated to the exhibition of local artisanal artifacts.

Why it's important to visit it
The guided tour allows you to deepen your knowledge of the traditions, history and cultural identity of Sardinia and in particular of Sulcis. It is understood that within the family and especially in the homes, all the goods that guaranteed daily existence were produced.
