PauliLatino, Nuraghe Battizzones

PauliLatino, Nuraghe Battizzones

PauliLatino, Nuraghe Battizzones

The archaeological monument is located isolated in a rural site.
The nuraghe is three-lobed, with a bastion of three towers joined by curtains that enclose the keep and the courtyard. Currently, the towers and the courtyard are invaded by collapses and access to the keep is impossible. The lintel of the entrance is partially visible.
In the courtyard area, a corridor is also visible, which was probably the access to one of the side towers, characterized by a considerable height.

History of studies
The archaeologist Antonio Taramelli, in 1935, wrote: “It is one of the great nuraghi of the municipality; the outer wall of the tower has been preserved with large basaltic boulders, sketched; the door is basement; the dome is semi-collapsed; the staircase is evident, but not accessible; all around many piles of stones mention small buildings that already exist around the nuraghe; it is located on the new road in Bonarcado”.

Bibliography

How to get there
From PauliLatino, take the SP 11 to Bonarcado and after about 6 km there is a sign that indicates the nuraghe. Then park the car on a pitch and continue walking along the path indicated by the sign. Continue straight until the second detour on the right and, after a few hundred meters, you arrive at a wooden gate from which you can access the area where the nuraghe is located.
