Palau, Ethnographic Museum

It is located in Localita Montiggia, divided into two large rooms. It is divided into 6 thematic sections: domestic environment, viticulture and viticulture, agriculture, livestock, means of transport, crafts. The section relating to the domestic environment displays some furnishing elements, such as shelves (balastragghju), sideboards, benches, tables and chairs and various kitchen utensils: including those used for baking (siazzi, siazzatogghj, culiri) and cheese making (scudeddhi, fulculi and bulia). Other materials include an inlaid wooden shell (the bride's rucca), which was used for the traditional race to the fortress during weddings, some ancient terracotta bowls (discs), the underskirt pocket in which women stored small objects (busciaccara), two cloth talismans (punghi) and a bone tobacco holder (tobacco box). The section dedicated to viticulture and viticulture features a barrel, barrels (cupa, carrateddhi and mizini) of different sizes, a wooden trampoline (calcicatogghju), two presses (suppressed) and a more recent roller press.
The agriculture section displays traditional tools, including two wooden plows (plows) and more recent agricultural machines. The farm section shows cowbells (schiddhi, brunzi and jingle), fire marks (malchi patrali), pastoie (trai and ultana) and the treggia (tragghjola), a rudimentary sled for transporting stones. The means of transport section displays the bull cart (carrulu a boi), the tombarello for transporting sand, gravel and stones (tumbarella) and some harnesses for horses and donkeys, in particular a leather saddle (seddha) and a padded fabric saddle used by women (striglioni). The crafts section shows the typical work tools of the agro-pastoral world: those of the blacksmith, the carpenter and the shoemaker.

Why it is important to visit it
It is important because it allows you to discover the origins of the town of Gallura through the objects recovered in the stazzi and in the first artisan shops.

Information on tickets and access: In all other months of the year, except for extraordinary openings, it is possible to use the structure after booking by telephone, or to book and buy tickets online on the dedicated page of the manager's website. The last visit starts +/- 45 minutes before the site closes (with exceptions). Pets are allowed, hoping for maximum respect for property and other people visiting.
