Osini, Taccu di Osini Archaeological and Naturalistic Park

The archaeological park is located on the “Taccu” of Osini, a characteristic natural fortress with steep limestone walls, from which you can enjoy an exceptional visual domain over Ogliastra and the Barbagie. The archaeological park, of particular charm, includes a complex nuraghe with an adjoining village, a cave with two entrances, two tombs of giants and two single-tower nuraghi.
The park is completed, in terms of architecture, by the presence of the ruins of the ghost town of “Osini Vecchio” which, like the nearby town of Gairo, was abandoned following the terrible flood of 1951. The ruins of the abandoned town, which can be visited, are the fragment of the human landscape where time has stopped. The ruined walls, the cobbled streets and small houses, where the vegetation has long since taken up residence, are metaphorically a faded photograph of the 1950s of this beautiful mountainous area of Ogliastra.

History of excavations
The area has been affected in recent years by several excavation campaigns conducted by Maria Ausilia Fadda.
