Monserrato, Museum of Physics

It is located at the Cittadella Universitaria di Monserrato.
The content of the exhibition includes about 400 educational and scientific tools, already owned by the Physics Cabinet of the Royal University and the Institute of Physics.
The journey unfolds through the instruments of acoustics, electromagnetism, mechanics, optics, terminology and others not directly related to these categories.
Among them, Antonio Pacinotti's dynamoelectric machine occupies an absolute prominent place. It was built by Pacinotti himself, professor of Experimental Physics in Cagliari, between 1873 and 1881, with the help of the Cagliari mechanic Giuseppe Dessì. Two other identical machines are located in Pisa, among the Pacinotti relics and at the Science Museum in London. The importance of the machine lies in the brilliant invention of the ring industry that was the basis for the creation of modern electric machines to which the second industrial revolution was due.

Why it's important to visit it
The physics museum is the only one in Sardinia and collects, in addition to important pieces such as Foucault's short pendulum and the original Pacinotti's machine, a large collection of scientific instruments from the 18th century to the present day. In addition, there is a series of interactive exhibits that allow visitors to “touch” Physics with their own hands.
