The exhibition In Light of Being - In the Light of Being, inaugurated on 15 June, continues at the Diocesan Arborense Museum in Oristano, a solo show by the artist Cate Woodruff, who lives and works in New York and who has chosen Sardinia and its light as a source of inspiration.
Light, color and energy are the central themes of this exhibition curated by Paola Mura, in which each work seems to shine with its own light. Cate Woodruff's creations enlighten the viewer, inviting them to explore the concept of spiritual and divine energy that binds every human being.
“There is a light that surrounds us and in which we are immersed, an energy that permeates us and in which we exist, that vibrates between an object and the person who looks at it, that does not separate and has no shape or boundaries, where the unity of the universe exists. This research is the eye and camera of Cate Woodruff, an American multimedia artist, who has found in the bright light of our island a new source of inspiration for her art,” writes curator Paola Mura, “in a single shot, little post-production, Cate experiments with ethereal geometries, colors that fade into each other: portraits of objects that you know exist, but you cannot identify. The light is revealed through glasses, shards of glass and various self-made lenses that Woodruff uses as a filter.” In Light of Being. In the Light of Being is also a celebration of the artist's precious time spent in Sardinia, where, she says, “I find joy and extraordinary beauty in the light, in the landscape, in life and in people, to whom I will be forever grateful.”
In the light of the Mediterranean and the Arborense city, which hosts the exhibition in the Diocesan Museum, are dedicated to his most recent works, created during his stay in preparation for this exhibition: works that celebrate 'our' light.
The exhibition will be open on Wednesday from 10:00 to 13:00 and from Thursday to Sunday from 10:00 to 13:00 and from 17:00 to 20:00, until August 25, 2024.
