Iglesias, Houses I.N.C.I.S.

The activity of the INCIS (National Institute for State Employee Homes), extended to the entire peninsula in the period between the two world wars, was also present in smaller centers such as Iglesias, where in a block along the Via Roma a house was built for army officers, then numerous due to the presence of barracks.
The house, designed by the Genius office of the XIII Army Corps, dates back to 1939 and is perfectly updated to the rationalist language.
The building block is set back from the road line inside a small garden and is characterized by the central front furrowed by windows that continue in blind horizontal bands with panels decorated in an “accordion” style. Even the graffiti and plaster finishes reveal formal elegance. The building opens with a U-shaped plan in the back and is surrounded by an irregular stone wall with an iron gate.
