On March 12, at the Bi.G, “Grazia Deledda” Regional Library, recently named after the great Sardinian writer on the 100th anniversary of the Nobel Prize award, there will be the second appointment of the series of meetings Dialogues at Bi.G: Books that speak to the present, designed to promote access to culture and stimulate open reflection on current issues and offer the library as a living space for meeting the voices of the contemporary cultural world, where reading becomes a collective experience and books tool and opportunity for comparison.
The theme of the second meeting is “Words and Images”: visual languages such as illustration and comics transform texts into visual experiences, facilitating identification and emotional understanding, acting where often words alone cannot reach.
Through artistic sensitivity, it is easier to overcome linguistic and cultural barriers, involving a large and diverse audience.
Illustration, comics and animated cinema today represent some of the most significant expressions of contemporary regional artistic production and have helped to outline an intellectual and creative environment that has facilitated Sardinia's entry into modernity.
The affirmation of these experiences in the national and international artistic scene coincided with a crucial phase in the process of defining contemporary Sardinian cultural identity, contributing decisively to the growth and consolidation of the island's cultural context.
To what extent is this tradition known today? And what can Sardinian libraries do to disseminate regional cultural heritage linked to the world of illustration?
Thursday, March 12, from 5:00 p.m., Bepi Vigna, Stefania Costa, Eva Rasano, Daniele Serra and Luigi Zara will meet at the Regional Library to discuss these issues together with the librarian Maurizio Ortu and the interested public.
For the occasion, in the reception area of the Bi.G Conference Room, a selection of works that are among the most representative of the current regional scene will be exhibited, starting at 16:30.
The Dialogues at Bi.G are all free and with free admission.
