Hills, Nuraghe Concali

The nuraghe is located on Monte Concali, an isolated relief almost opposite the Giara di Siddi, in the marly-calcareous region of Marmilla, in central-southern Sardinia. The dominant position allows you to enjoy a remarkable glance, up to the Gulf of Oristano.
The complex building incorporates into its bastion, at the western end of the rock outcrop, a previous structure: probably a pseudonuraghe, whose floor plan cannot be defined due to the poor state of conservation. The outer wall, readable only on the side facing NE, consists of basalt blocks arranged in irregular rows that incorporate natural rock outcrops.
The complex building consists of a central tower partially included in a bilobed bastion enclosing a courtyard. The bastion is surrounded by an antewall. The latter, converging to determine, at least on the N and S sides, the structural connection with the pseudonuraghe, surrounds large courtyard spaces.
Based on the architectural structures and materials found - even with the precautions that are necessary in the absence of stratigraphic excavation data - the construction of the complex nuraghe could date back to the end of the 15th and beginning of the 13th century BC. In the archaeological area, some wall structures are plausibly traced back to the reoccupation of the site
in historic times.

History of excavations
The area was the subject, in the years 1993-94, of a first scientific investigation limited to surface operations by the Archaeological Superintendence for the Provinces of Cagliari and Oristano.

How to get there
The site, a short distance from the town of Collinas in the direction NE, is easily accessible by means of a road connection that, on the right of the provincial road to Gonnostramatza, winds its way up rapidly to the vicinity of the archaeological area.
