The Museum is located in Corso Vittorio Emanuele, in the area called “Sa Piatta”, in a nineteenth-century building. The building, on three floors, is the result of the amalgamation of several houses and constitutes, with its frescoed vaults and its furnishings, a beautiful testimony of a bourgeois home in the historic center of Bosano.
The exhibition takes place on the so-called piano nobile, an authentic stately apartment that has remained exactly as it was in the 19th century.
The focus of the museum itinerary is the permanent exhibition of Melkiorre Melis' artistic production. Through this collection, we have an understanding of the production of the most important and eclectic Bosano painter, who includes, in addition to paintings, also artifacts of various inspirations.
There are numerous works on display, as the artist has dedicated himself to the creation of furniture, objects and ceramics, and they also include the African period. His Libyan experience as director of the School of Indigenous Arts and Crafts in Tripoli had in fact allowed him to renew his production based on primitive suggestions and the affinities between these and the artistic production of Sardinia.

Why it is important to visit it
The guided tour allows you to deepen your knowledge of the historical and artistic resources present in the Bosano area but, above all, it allows you to learn about the enormous Melissian production that, embracing the multiple expressions of art, will distinguish Melis from other contemporary Sardinian artists.
