Arbus, “Francesco Sartori” marine colony

Arbus, “Francesco Sartori” marine colony

Arbus, “Francesco Sartori” marine colony

The building is located on a large and suggestive inlet of the Arbus marina, then not anthropized, which was completed for the occasion with 18 km of road and with an afforestation of domestic pine for 8 hectares, as well as served by an aqueduct connected to that of Montevecchio.
The “Francesco Sartori” marine colony in Funtanazza was inaugurated in 1956 and is the last major intervention of the Montevecchio mining company in favor of the employees' children.
The construction is built with three distinct bodies, each with different functions: the main and most impressive one has different levels, underlined by ribbon windows that run all over the façade, and it stands out especially for the front porch on two floors, which recalls the classic relationship between full and empty spaces, here perfectly functional to the need to use large spaces, even open and at the same time protected. The building, built of reinforced concrete with ribs, is equipped with two swimming pools, one of which is approved to CONI standards, which also have a service building available.
The functional and bright interiors included all the accommodation facilities for the children's temporary stay, using mainly metallic furnishings.
