It is located in the late 17th century villa of the Boyl family, who built an oil mill there. In the early 1900s, the notary Francesco Locci bought the building, undertaking the production of oil on his own and the milling activity for third parties. The museum is dedicated to the olive oil tradition, deeply rooted in the Parteolla area. The exhibition illustrates the entire oil cycle: olive growing (tools for cultivation and pruning; graduated containers for measuring olives to start milling: "su moi “," sa mesuredda “," sa mesura “," sa mesura “," sa quarra “), olive pressing (animal traction mill), extraction of oily must (press for pressing fish), separation of oil from water, preservation of oil (from the Roman amphora to the most modern galvanized steel containers). A section is dedicated to the documentation on the production of oil and keeps the records of the Locci Oil Mill. An underground tank displays about seventy oil lamps of various origins and ages, used for lighting and religious purposes: Canaanite, Hellenistic, Roman, Sabbatical, Islamic, Sardinian, “Florentine”. The collection of graduated containers, used instead of the scale for measuring the olives to be started milling, is the first olive pressing system unchanged for millennia, is considerable.
