Nuoro Carnival

The Nuoro carnival

There are several events that make the Nuoro carnival unique, first of all the parade of traditional masks: the Mamuthones and Issohadores of Mamoiada, the Thurpos of Orotelli, the Bundos of Orani and the Tumbarinos.

Every year the carnival in Nuoro includes a series of events that take place in the streets of the center and that involve the population and tourists.
As in many villages in Barbagia, the festival also opens on January 16 in Nuoro with bonfires in honor of Sant'Antonio Abate, including the most beautiful fire for its magnificence and for the involvement of the community.
In addition to the children's carnival, which takes place on February 2, and the traditional dances in the square, other initiatives are organized (treasure hunts, entertainment events, contests, etc.) that may vary from edition to edition.
The event then includes a parade through the streets of the center, on the afternoon of Saturday, January 26, in which the traditional Barbagia masks participate, including the Mamuthones and Issohadores of Mamoiada, the Thurpos of Orotelli, the Bundos of Orani, the Tumbarinos of

Gavoi.
