Restoration of the church of Saint Peter the Apostle in Fundu di Monti in Tempio Pausania (CUP E57B22000730006)
The church of Saint Peter the Apostle was erected in 1929 following the contribution granted by Pope Pius XI for the construction of churches in Sardinia and in southern Italy.
The church, of modest size, is characterized by a rectangular plan with rounded corners, near the altar. In addition to the church, there is a small attached sacristy.
The structure has remained intact over time, it is completely plastered outside. The pyramidal-shaped bell tower, elongated at the top, is not matched by the typical local bell
towers. In particular, the external windows, characterized by a fingernail shape, stand out. The interior has a brick altar in whose niche there is the statue of the patron saint. Near the church there are some houses (stazzi) that are still inhabited today
With the contribution of the PNRR, a radical restoration was carried out, which included, in particular, the following processes:

The church is located on the slopes of Mount Limbara downstream of the fountains called Fundu di Monti.
From Tempio Pausania, take the state road 392 in the direction of Oschiri, at km 4.8, turn right onto the dirt road and follow it for 100 meters.
The building has architectural barriers (access steps).
There is a small space in front of the church for a few parking spaces.
The church is set in a context of religious itineraries that wind through the rural and urban context of Tempio Pausania.
The building, as per Gallura tradition, is always open to worship and used for religious services. It welcomes the faithful and tourists who come there for
visits. The religious rites and the festival dedicated to the Patron Saint take place there with a large participation of tourists and faithful. The Office for Ecclesiastical Cultural Heritage of the Diocese of Tempio-Ampurias oversees and promotes activities for the use of the site.
