Conservative rehabilitation and functional recovery of the church of Santa Margherita di Boeria (CUP E77B22000490006)

Pula - Church of Santa Margherita di Boeria

There is no precise historical information on the dating of the church, but several oral testimonies date its construction to the end of the nineteenth century.

The building, of modest size, with a rectangular plan with a single nave and a semicircle apse, is located in an isolated and free position on all sides, surrounded by a large churchyard of the same property, in a natural and landscape context of great beauty.

Over time, the church has undergone various interventions, never in an organic way, which, despite having helped to preserve it in part from degradation, have also made it little recognizable.

The restoration works carried out were aimed at conservative recovery and improving the functional recovery of the property, also with a view to better recognition of the church building, through:

  • renovation of the roof, with relative waterproofing and insulation
  • removal of deteriorated plasters and their replacement with dehumidifying materials
  • arrangement of outdoor areas

The project also included:

  • the creation of a dedicated website with historical, cultural and environmental contents
  • the inclusion in the territorial dissemination network for the scheduled guided tour
  • the creation of signs with adequate communication of the site and how to reach it
  • Initiatives will also be activated to promote the site as a place of cultural value within already active or innovative paths.
