Our Lady of Itria in Arbus, between sea and wind - CUP E57B22000720004
The country church of Our Lady of Itria is located in the town of Basiligò.
Seventeenth-century sources already attest to the cult of Our Lady of Itria, to which the country church, an important chapel in the mother church of San Sebastiano and a brotherhood that oversaw its cult, now refounded, were dedicated. The presence of hermits is also historically documented.
The church today appears to have been profoundly modified compared to its original structure, having undergone numerous renovations over time. Over the years it has also suffered the deterioration of some elements such as wooden structures, plaster and in recent times it has been accompanied by a block of two toilets. The building had never been equipped with an electrical system
.The restoration interventions involved the demolition of some superfetations, the replacement of degraded wooden elements (roofs), the removal of plaster and the replacement of the windows, the installation of an electrical system with lighting in the side porches and a photovoltaic pergola.
