Friday, March 8, is International Women's Rights Day. Often incorrectly referred to as 'Women's Day'. In fact, this is not a day to celebrate the feminine gender, but an opportunity to reflect on social, economic and political achievements, but also on the discrimination and violence that women have been and are still subject to in every part of the world.
March 8, on the symbolic date chosen to celebrate the International Day of Women's Rights, The Museum of Contemporary Ethnographic Art of Budduso' renews its invitation to cultivate memory in museums, places of collective memory, to reflect and emphasize the importance of the fight for women's rights, in particular for their emancipation, recalling social, economic and political achievements and bringing attention to issues such as gender equality, discrimination and violence against women. Despite the objectives achieved and the results obtained, thanks to a struggle that began more than a century ago, even today, unfortunately, women see their rights not recognized or trampled on and, on various occasions, they are victims of discrimination, prejudice and violence. The March 8 event at the Museum of Contemporary Ethnographic Art represents, through the installation with photos and archive documents, an opportunity to educate, reflect and promote, together with local students and schools, education in the values of respect, the dignity of every individual, the culture of equality, hospitality and inclusion through art.
