The museum is set up in the former Town Hall, dating back to 1914, and houses finds mainly from the territory of Sardara, but also from neighboring municipalities.
The exhibition is also interesting because of the educational imprint that characterizes it, since the set of illustrative panels, the reconstructions of tomb structures and production processes, the plastics and the vision of the ancient structures underlying the building naturally lend themselves to an educational path.
The occupation of the Sardinian territory in the Nuragic era is illustrated by the important finds of the village and the sacred well that can be visited at the church of Sant'Anastasia, in the historic center, of which the reconstructive model is also present. The necropolis of Terr'e Cresia, in the countryside, dates back to the Roman age.
Of particular importance are the materials from the excavations of the medieval castle of Monreale and the reconstruction of a brick production workshop with the processing phases.
There is no shortage of data on the ancient settlement in neighboring municipalities: of great importance, among others, the bell-shaped funerary context of Padru Jossu in Sanluri, the Monte Claro cultural ceramics and the Nuragic ornaments from Su Fraigu to San Sperate, the fictilian Punic ex-vots from the city of Neapolis to Guspini.
Also valuable are the finds that can be dated from the Nuragic Age to the Early Middle Ages from the territories of Serrenti, Samassi, San Gavino, Gonnosfanadiga and Arbus.
Why it is important to visit it
