The exhibitions were arranged on an area of about 600 square meters along a path based on the chronology of geological and biological events that have led our planet, through slow but continuous changes, to the evolution of living organisms and their environments, preparing the current wonderful biodiversity. The visitor will be able to discover the most significant finds from the ancient mines of Sardinia, now included in the Geominerary, Historical and Environmental Park of Sardinia, recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. Starting 2.5 billion years ago, within precise geological periods and in particular through the wonderful underground treasures of Sardinia, minerals and fossils, are marked by the different phases of the formation of the island and of the long journey that took it to the center of the Mediterranean.
Why is it important to visit it
In addition to numerous minerals that were formed in the subsoil of the island starting more than 500 million years ago, the visitor will be able to observe among the numerous fossils on display, that of the oldest amphibian in Italy, the very rare Apateon, which 250 million years ago inhabited the shores of a lake inside the island.
