The gallery was built in 1852 and underwent numerous changes over the years. Dedicated to the viceroy of Sardinia Giacomo Francesco Pes marquis of Villamarina, it had a linear extension of 120 meters. Inside, the two main wells are visible. Pozzo Vittorio, which is the main access to the subsoil for the transport of personnel and production. Pozzo Sella created at the end of 1860 to drain the water present in the subsoil of the Monteponi mine.

Tickets for the guided tour of Galleria Villamarina can be purchased exclusively: online on the following web page, at the ticket office at the Tourist Office in Piazza Municipio in Iglesias and at the ticket office on the site. The chosen time is indicated on the ticket. It is advisable to arrive at the ticket office, with a paper or digital ticket receipt, 15 minutes in advance. The delay results in a missed visit and does not entitle you to a refund. The guided tour lasts about 1 hour and takes place flat, on fairly regular dirt roads. The site is accessible, with the presence of a companion, to those with motor disabilities. Wear appropriate clothing when visiting a museum site. Avoid showing up in a swimsuit and wearing skimpy clothing. Wear closed shoes: avoid flip flops, slippers and clogs.
