Arborea, M.U.B.A. Arborea Reclamation Museum

The Arborea-Muba Reclamation Museum collects, exhibits and enhances materials and documents concerning the history of Reclamation and aims to disseminate knowledge and study the history of this territory.
The Museum is composed of two sections: the Historical section, located on the ground floor, consists of two rooms: the first room is dedicated to the architecture of the city and the architects who created them; the second room, dedicated to the territory, illustrates the phases of construction of the Reclamation, with the biographies of its architects.
On a multimedia model, films of the time and aerial video footage taken in 2011 are screened, which deal with the various aspects of the Reclamation of the Terralba plain. These include the work done to earn agriculture and livestock a previously submerged or semi-submerged territory, colonization, architecture, the history of the territory, the economy.
A touch screen table allows the consultation of about 800 historical images from the archive of the Società Bonifica Sarde and a selection of aerial photos taken in 2011.
The in-depth study of urban development, with a visit to the main architectures, can be carried out with the help of audio guides, available in four languages.
The second archaeological section, located on the second floor, is also divided into two rooms: the first houses a selection of materials from research in the Holy Nuragic Well of Orri, also visited in later periods; the second room, the Antiquarium, exhibits a selection of the splendid materials resulting from random discoveries made during land transformation operations, around the thirties of the twentieth century, in the territory of Arborea, in particular in the towns of S'Ungroni. More than 300 ceramic, glass and metal artifacts are on display, spanning a period between the Late Punic Age and the Byzantine Age. Among the materials dating back to the Punic Age, there are a jug and cup lights from the 4th-3rd century BC. Republican Roman materials, from the 2nd-1st century BC, come from cremated and burial tombs: black-painted, thin-walled ceramics, ointments and a beautiful askòs shaped like a child's bust. Sealed earth ceramics and round beaked lights date back to the imperial age.
There are also cinerary urns and glass balsamars, bronze bells, necklace beads, coins. The Late Antique Age is represented by ceramics in sealed African earth and by Mediterranean lights with a cross and a Christological monogram.

Because it is important to visit it
The Reclamation Museum is unique in its kind in all of Sardinia, because it was unique and never repeated, it was the magnitude of the human-economic-technological effort necessary for the realization of this work, experiment and prototype of subsequent remediation.
