A mid-nineteenth-century building located in the main street of Macomer, which was originally the country residence of landlords in the area, houses the Museum. The building preserves the architecture of the traditional Sardinian house, with the jambs and the lintels of doors and windows made of local stone, basalt and trachite, as well as the wall structures. Inside, perfectly preserved, there are the wooden stairs, the exposed beams, the “taulatu” floor and the stone fireplaces. The rich documentary collection includes about three thousand pieces, recovered locally thanks to the collaboration of the population that, often, has donated their artifacts and tools. The objects on display, all original and dating back to the 18th and 20th centuries, relate not only to the peasant and pastoral civilization typical of the area, the Marghine, but also to the work of the skilled master craftsmen. The layout of the various rooms of the house is divided by arts and crafts, with fourteen spaces that display objects for female or male competence: the kitchen with “sos furreddos” and the corner with the frame, but also the reconstruction of a winery for winemaking and cheese processing, the shoemaker's shop, the blacksmith, the blacksmith and the carpenter. The itinerary ends with a visit to the bedrooms, where it is possible to appreciate all those household items, period furnishings and pieces of furniture typical of wealthy families of the nineteenth century. There are architectural barriers.
