Sassari, Church of Sant'Antonio di Noi Noi

Sassari, Church of Sant'Antonio di Noi Noi

Sassari, Church of Sant'Antonio di Noi Noi

The church is located in an olive grove corresponding to the site of the “villa” of Innoviu or de Annoico, mentioned in the “Condaghe di San Pietro di Silki” (11th-13th century), from which the denomination of Noi Noi comes from.
The church of Sant'Antonio di Noi Noi represents an example of minor Romanesque architecture, which draws its main source of charm from its organic insertion into the landscape.
In the absence of documentation on the planting period, it can be ascribed to the first half of the 13th century because of its construction characteristics. The floor plan has a single-aisled classroom with an E-shaped apse and a roof originally made of wood. In the 17th century, the room was turned upside down and a room connecting with the interior was placed next to N.
The walls are made of medium-sized calcareous ashlars. The external wall walls are smooth and finished by a simple molded frame. In the façade, an arched portal surmounted by a round drain arch opens. In line with the portal, there is a light in the shape of a cross, surrounded by eight rooms for ceramic basins, now lost. On the façade there is a large sailing bell tower.

History of studies
The first studies on the church are by Vico Mossa (1965). It is mentioned twenty years later by Gian Filippo Orlandi (1985). The most recent writings are by Roberto Coroneo (1993) and Marisa Porcu Gaias (1996).
