Seui, Corongiu Mine

The industrial settlement is located at the bottom of the valley on the outskirts of the town, in the middle of the Montarbu forests that provided wood for the motive power, useful for the processing of the mineral.
The anthracite mine was initially entrusted to private individuals to pass to the Corr'e Boi company in the latter part of the nineteenth century, favored by the construction of the Cagliari-Arbatax railway. After several events, the mine was declared bankrupt in 1959.
The most significant building is the laveria di San Sebastiano near the railroad, beyond a stone bridge, and is spread over three floors with as many buildings joined together: a tower on the west side with openings with two and three lights separated by pillars, a central body on which large windows are repeated and a lower building. In particular, in the tower, you can see sober decorations between Liberty and Art Deco, while the corner pilasters have bichromatic bands.
On the surrounding hills are small houses and dressing rooms for families and bachelor miners, while service buildings such as the laboratory and the powder keg are located higher up.
The mine is part of the Geominerary, Historical and Environmental Park of Sardinia, recognized by UNESCO.

History of studies
The mine is included in various publications on mining archeology in Sardinia.
