Santa Maria Coghinas, Church of Our Lady of Grace

The church of the Madonna delle Grazie, the parish church of Santa Maria Coghinas, is located in the town. It was built in the ancient “Villa Kokinas”, mentioned in the “Condaghe di San Michele di Salvenero” (12th-13th century).
The parish church of Santa Maria Coghinas dates back to the second half of the 12th century, but only the façade, rebuilt in the first quarter of the 14th century, remains from the medieval phase. For the rest, the church underwent a series of building interventions, which led to the renovation of the classroom.
The walls are made of medium-sized sandstone. The original system was a single-aisled classroom. The SE apse preserves a perhaps original single window, like the double-thrombed ones on the northern flank. The façade culminates with the sailing bell tower and is crowned with three-lobed ogival ribbed arches. The portal is hundreds, with obvious integrations that have reduced the light. An oculo with decorated ring dominates the portal, next to which is inserted a frame with a geometric pattern intended to accommodate inlay pieces.

History of studies
Giovanni Spano mentions it in a note in the Itinerary of General Alberto Della Marmora (1868). Raffaello Delogu (1953) describes it in his work on medieval architecture in Sardinia, actually referring to the church of San Giovanni di Viddalba. Once the error was detected, it was correctly framed by Roberto Coroneo (1993).
