The Sound Garden, Pinuccio Sciola's open-air museum, located on the south-western outskirts of San Sperate, on the historic Sciola family estate, is an open-air museum-exhibition. The land that houses the collection, littered with olive trees and orange trees, was transformed into an exhibition space in 2014 by Pinuccio Sciola himself, with the collaboration of his daughter Maria.
The Sound Garden is a horizon of megalithic stones, pervaded by the scent of citrus fruits, capable of magically expanding the sense of loss.
A timeless corner, full of energy, that brings all the senses together, amplifies and contemplates them. An artistic space where specialized guides accompany visitors to discover the sound of stone and where they have the opportunity to savor and participate in an unprecedented dimension of Art and Nature. A living nature down to its most immobile and silent element: stone.
A place of art that is expressed in all the languages of the world, where basalt and limestone produce suggestive archaic, ancestral and mystical sounds; where stone seeds are sown so that culture can fertilize nature; where granites, in the dark of night, reveal new three-dimensional surfaces through the shining light.
Why it is important to visit it
The Sound Garden is not only an interactive and participatory museum, but it is a place of study that welcomes students of art, architecture and cultural heritage, who have the opportunity, followed by art historians, to get closer to this sensitive and visionary artist by consulting the archive of his documents and historical projects for study purposes.
