The “Giovanni Pusceddu” Naturalistic Territory Museum, the most important nature museum in Sardinia, is located on the basaltic plateau of Sa Corona Arrùbia (The Red Crown), which extends from the Lunamatrona countryside to those of Collinas. The museum is divided into three large permanent sections: faunistic, botany and anthropogenic.
In the wildlife section there is the largest and most complete collection of dioramas in Sardinia, divided into eight life-size three-dimensional reconstructions, with flora and fauna, which faithfully reproduce the natural environments of the territory: the jars with their “paulis”, the oak woods, the riparian environments and the arid pasture.
The botanical section is in turn divided into three subsections: mycoteca, xylotheca and herbarium.
Here many secrets of the plant kingdom are revealed in the educational section with the help of simple models, cross sections, sections and illustrative panels. In the exhibition room there is a space dedicated to medicinal plants with particular regard to the species that abound in the surrounding territory.
The anthropic section is divided into two sections: archaeological and anthropological.
The first opens with the life-size reconstruction of a prenuragic house followed by a series of scale reproductions of the main finds in the area: the Nuraghe Genna Maria, the Domus de Janas of “Scab'e Arriu”, “Padru Jossu” and “Bingia 'e Monti”; the Tomb of the Giants “Sa Domu 'e S' Orcu” and the well temple of Sant'Anastasia.
The second part is dedicated to the anthropization of the territory in the first half of the twentieth century. Through the tools of rural civilization, such as the wooden plow and the most recent iron plow, hoes, scythes and work clothes, it offers an insight into peasant life in Marmilla in the last century.
Inside the Museum there are other collections such as: Doctor Barsanti's physics cabinet, traditional toys, Art Collection; while temporary scientific exhibitions are periodically set up in the rooms concerning history, archeology, art and natural sciences.
There is also the library of the Scolopi Fathers and a conference room.
