Lula, Sos Enattos Mine

The Sos Enattos mine is located in a landscape of great beauty, highlighted by the proximity of Mount Albo. Already exploited by the Romans, it was rediscovered in the mid-nineteenth century and passed in 1905 to the Franco-Belgian mining company Societé Anonyme des Mines de Malfidano. Later passed to private individuals, it was taken over by Rimisa s.p.A. in 1951 so as to achieve significant development, which stopped amid periodic crises with its definitive closure in 1996. Today it is part of the Geominerary, Historical and Environmental Park of Sardinia, recognized by UNESCO. Still in the territory of Lula, you can travel along the Monte Albo SP to find the two next junctions that lead to the now abandoned mining settlements of Guzzurra and Argentaria. Following a path on the road before the entrance gate, you can descend downstream to the remains of the Su Ergiolu mine.
The mining villages of Guzzurra and Argentaria, linked to the extraction of lead-silver minerals, remained active at least since the mid-nineteenth century. At the top of a hill you can see the remains of the small village of Guzzurra with the management building, the workers' quarters and a tank. Once upon a time, there was also a small hospital.
In the Su Ergiolu mine, the building containing the steam engine of the extraction well, the chimney tower that discharged the fumes and the tanks for the water necessary for the processing of the mineral are worth mentioning.

History of studies
Lula's mining plants are mentioned in several works on industrial archeology in Sardinia.
