Alghero, Sacred Heart elementary schools

The first elementary school in Alghero was founded between 1876 and 1903. The elegant building stands out for its smooth ashlar stilobate that holds two plastered floors punctuated by large curved windows. The male and female elementary school can be considered the first construction on the island wanted by a municipal administration for that purpose; formed by a building with two wings that allowed the differentiated entry of students, the building was also the only modern, civil or religious, Sardinian architecture presented at the Turin Expo in 1891.
