It is set up inside the “Sella and Mosca” wineries, in the town of Piani di Sotgiu near Alghero. The museum is the last stop on a larger itinerary that takes place in the business complex of the flourishing wine estates of La Sella and Mosca. It is divided into two sections: an archaeological one and a business history section. The archaeological section documents the history of the site of “Anghelu Ruju”, the largest prehistoric necropolis in Sardinia, discovered in 1903, with its 38 hypogeums, in the land of the wine estate. The exhibition presents copies of excavated finds. The other section, embellished with extraordinary period photos by Erminio and Vittorio Sella, is dedicated to the history of the company, from 1899 to 1938. In this corner of the Nurra, it effectively documents the contrast between a business model open to the future and, around it, an agro-pastoral world still marked by slow and apparently immutable rhythms. Vinary presses, laccus for harvesting wine and asine mills for wheat are on display.
Why it's important to visit it
