Per “tumulo” si deve intendere una struttura monumentale funeraria costituita da un rilevante sostegno di materiali sedimentari, come pietre, ghiaia, terra, accumulati a dare forma a una collinetta artificiale, di forma circolare o subcircolare, a volte accresciuto da una struttura litica perimetrale denominata peristalite. Il tumulo ricopriva anche la tomba dei giganti di Thomes di modo che, allo stesso tempo, venisse nascosta ed evidenziata: difatti, esso serviva anche a conferire allo stesso sepolcro un effetto di monumentalità e visibilità. A mound made up of a significant support of sedimentary materials, accumulated to shape an artificial hill, and enhanced by a stone perimeter structure called peristalite, covered the tomb of the giants of Thomes giving the tomb a monumental and visible aspect. Un tumulus composé d’un important soutènement de matériaux sédimentaires et renforcé par une structure lithique périphérique appelée « peristalite » afin de former une colline artificielle qui recouvrait la tombe des géants de Thomes dans le but de conférer au sépulcre visibilité et majesté. Ein Grabhügel, der von sedimentären Materialien gestützt wird, die angesammelt wurden, um einen künstlichen Hügel zu formen, und der von einer äußeren Struktur aus Stein, „Peristalite“ genannt, erhöht wird, bedeckt das Gigantengrab von Thomes und verleiht ihm eine monumentale Wirkung und Sichtbarkeit. Un montículo formado por un importante soporte de materiales sedimentarios, acumulados para dar forma a una colina artificial, y reforzados por una estructura lítica perimetral denominada peristalite, recubría la tumba de los gigantes de Thomes, confiriendo al sepulcro un efecto monumental y visibilidad.
