The Iglesias Museum of Costume and Traditions was inaugurated in 2019 thanks to the ethno-anthropological heritage collected and guarded for years by the master Priola, owned by him and acquired thanks to donations from Iglesienti families.
The museum preserves costumes, jewelry and household items from the past.
In the room on the ground floor you can admire the everyday utensils such as the baskets, the jar, the chests (carved and painted), the frame, the stone grinder and the press.
In the room on the first floor, however, you can admire the traditional costume of Iglesias.
As for traditional women's clothing, there are different types depending on the social class or the condition of the woman at a given time in her life.
For example, “Sa Nostrada” was the noble or bourgeois woman, she wore the dress that best identifies with Iglesias.
The 'Massaja Antiga' was the landowner. Beautiful is the dress of “Sa Bagadia” or the young lady.
The men's suit includes a white shirt with a wide collar, a blue or black bodice and a jacket in orbace or black cloth, ankle-length pants, also black in orbace and finally 'Sa Berritta' or 'Su Sombreri', the headwear.
In the side cases many valuable pieces including shawls and bodices, and in the central case there are the jewels, including earrings, pendants, brooches and buttons.
