Selargius, “Semù” Archaeological Museum

The territory of Selargius, a municipality in the metropolitan city of Cagliari, was intensely populated since prehistoric times. Archaeological evidence is widely present and dated back to the fourth and third millennia BC, to reach the present day, in continuity. The eneolithic village of Su Coddu — Canelles is the most studied example to date, but it is certainly not the only settlement of significant archaeological interest just outside Selargius. There are many others, but probably no one else will allow us to tell about life in prehistory like this. The finds found in the excavation campaigns are many and are still being restored and interpreted, to integrate and replace the collections. All kept in the SEMU', to represent “human footprints”. Not found objects, but rediscovered stories. Those of those who created and used them. Not one person, but often many and for generations. Changing them to the point of losing them, to make new ones. But we are not in any place. The collections are housed in one of the oldest Selargine buildings. From the first half of the 14th century, landlords and soldiers built it, lived there, modified it. Rich in the stories of the protagonists, which we have researched in the documents, to understand them. Today they are exhibited in the panels, the aid of narratives, immersive in the past.
