A new AI tool for Bibliosar

From Wednesday, May 6, the OPAC of the SBN Sardegna BiblioSAR Regional Hub has been enriched with Sebina AI, a suite of tools based on generative artificial intelligence wanted by the RAS Cultural Heritage Valorization and Management Service with a view to offering users innovative services and with the aim of making the island's library heritage is more accessible and inclusive, breaking down language and cultural barriers.

The service, developed by Dot Beyond, introduces two main features from the desktop version of the portal:

  • Smart Search: Located next to the traditional search bar, it allows users to obtain more precise results and to discover resources related by topic or context, overcoming the limits of searching for simple keywords.
  • Conversational Agent: A virtual assistant active 24 hours a day, located at the bottom of each page of the portal. Through natural language, the user can communicate with the OPAC to ask for information on the property, contact details and library services, receiving personalized
  • assistance in real time.

Appointment at the Turin Book Fair
As this is a novelty in the National Library Service (SBN) scene, the Sardinian experience will be officially presented at the next Turin International Book Fair.

The event, entitled "When the library catalog talks with users. The Sardinia experience with Sebina AI”, will be held on Monday, May 18, from 15:00 to 16:00, at Spazio Sardegna. The meeting will see the participation of those responsible for the RAS of this important trial, with the interventions of Elisabetta Pani and Angela Messina and the moderation of Floriana Me. It will be an opportunity to talk about the Region's policies in support of libraries and illustrate how artificial intelligence can transform every research into a real path of cultural discovery.

To learn more about the operation of Sebina AI, a short video and an information page dedicated to the service will be available on the OPAC Bibliosar.
