Scano di Montiferro, Nuraghe Nuracale

The building is located near the Luzzanas river on the bridge of the road to Bosa, on the edge of the valley at an altitude of 406 meters above sea level.
Nuracale is one of the most impressive nuraghes in the Montiferru Massif. It is a complex nuraghe consisting of a central tower embedded in the center of a square consisting of the rectilinear curtains that connect the corner towers.
Part of the first floor room is preserved from the keep, with rubble in the lower chamber. The latter, without the roof, has a circular plan (m 4 in diameter) and a maximum remaining height of 11 meters. There are no subsidiary compartments on the sides of the chamber. The bastion, flawed in its planimetric development due to the collapses, was accessed through an open entrance along curtain E, almost completely buried. The corridor behind led to a narrow and elongated inner courtyard (14 x 4 m), also covered with stone for a height of about three meters, whose walls rise to the collapse level - in some places - by about 5 meters. From the sides of the courtyard, the access corridors to the two front towers spread out, but they can only be accessed in the initial section. One of the rear towers, which is preserved for a maximum remaining height of m 4, has - inside - a circular compartment marginalized by a niche; you can also identify the mouth of the corridor. The curtain wall that connects - in the N quadrant - the two towers is, despite the obvious traces of restoration, the best preserved of the bastion (m 7 in height).

How to get there
The nuraghe is located 2.5 km from the town of Scano, along the SP 19 to Sagama, clearly identifiable on the left about 100 meters from the road.
