The Sound Garden was founded in the Sixties, when Pinuccio Sciola decided to transform the family's ancient citrus grove into an open-air creative laboratory. Over the years, the place has become the experimental center of his artistic research, hosting the famous 'sound stones' and other sculptural series such as' seeds' and 'granites', conceived in dialogue with the surrounding nature. In 2014, the garden was formally established as a museum, now entrusted to the Sciola Foundation, which takes care of its protection, enhancement and transmission through guided experiential tours. The green area still houses orange, olive and other Mediterranean plants, integrated by sculptures that blend with the vegetation, in a layout that generates a sinuous serpentine path, designed to invite visitors to get lost and to rediscover themselves in space. The works, including the famous 'sound stones', the 'seeds' and the 'granites', are placed in dialogue with nature, creating an immersive and sensory experience in an open museum space whose architectural space is created by rows of trees and borders. The tour is guided by trained operators who accompany visitors to listen to the stones, highlighting their fragility and symbolic value. It stands out for the informal and harmonious arrangement of the sound sculptures among the existing vegetation, creating a sensory journey that stimulates sight, touch and hearing. The scenographic composition favors the interaction of visitors with the works, inserted in relation to olive trees, citrus fruits and open spaces, generating an immersive and dynamic experience in which art and nature merge. The layout allows free and modular use, enhancing the spontaneity of natural materials and the ability of sculptures to produce sounds. The central core of the Sound Garden preserves the memory of the ancient family citrus grove, with regular orange trees. This plant permanence testifies to the agricultural origin of the place and constitutes an identity element that is intertwined with the contemporary museum layout. Citrus fruits, in addition to maintaining their ornamental and landscape function, represent a direct link with the history of the site and with the agricultural tradition of San Sperate. Orange trees constitute the most significant part of the original citrus grove, still visible in the central areas of the garden.
