The Region of Sardinia has identified minimum standards for the functioning and recognition of museums in order to qualify the museum offer, communicate outside and inside a unified and coherent image of the museums of Sardinia, strengthen the relationship of museums with the territory, activate relationships between museums and local entrepreneurship, develop and implement coordinated strategies for enhancement, improve and support the professionalism of operators.

Register of Cultural Institutions/Places
The Region promotes the Sardinian Museum System and the coordination between institutes, places of culture and institutions that operate in the field of cultural heritage, recognizing the same cultural assets as dynamic actors in interrelationships with the environment, tourism and the processes of growth and development of territories.
With this in mind, the recognition procedure was initiated, initially aimed at museums and museum collections, based on minimum quality requirements, shared internationally and nationally. The award is aimed at qualifying the museum offer, communicating outside and inside a unified and coherent image of the museums of Sardinia, strengthening their relationship with the territory, activating relationships with local entrepreneurship, developing and implementing coordinated strategies for enhancement, improving and supporting the professionalism of operators.
To supplement the recognition process, the Register of Places and Institutes of Culture has also been established (divided into sectors, subsectors and sections in relation to ownership and types) which, by virtue of the minimum quality requirements relating to eight areas identified, have obtained effective regional recognition (compliance with all eight areas) or provisional (compliance with only the first four areas).
The register, aimed at promoting the quality of cultural places and institutes, represents the necessary prerequisite for giving visibility to quality museums in Sardinia and encouraging the promotion of places and institutions in general as part of targeted communication activities, implemented by the Region, through its institutional portals.
