The museum, located in the former residence of the Guiso nobles and then the Royal Carabinieri barracks, houses a varied collection of small period theaters from all over Europe.
Inaugurated in 2000, the Don Giovanni Guiso museum, in addition to the collection of precious theater manufacture from the 18th century to today, exhibits dioramas and graphic works by international artists, including drawings from the Roman School dating from 1930 to 1945, ancient and rare books on Sardinia, clothing and costume from 1880 to today, and Sienese works of art.
An attentive and refined collector, Don Nanni, as his fellow villagers still call him, had fun playing with the props, lights and sets of professional theaters, and toy dioramas, which he later sold free of charge to the community of Orosei, in Baronia.
The building that houses the museum, as well as its unique collection, are the result of a donation made in 2000 by Don Nanni Guiso to his country of origin.
