Villa Pasquini with its garden was built by Engineer Gustavo Salmon in 1887. It was later sold to Count Pasquini, who assigned it to the headquarters of the Macomer division of the Complementary Railways of Sardinia, and finally, in the early 1980s, it was acquired by the Municipality of Macomer. There are no reliable historical sources relating to the original planimetric configuration of the garden nor to the initial botanical composition. However, the analysis of historical aerial photographs highlights the presence of trees and lawn areas as early as the years 1954-1955 and 1968. With the 2010 intervention, the current configuration of the garden was defined. Villa Pasquini is located in the town of Macomer, surrounded by its private garden. The entire property covers an area of about 3,400 square meters, of which about 3,080 square meters are intended for the garden, and has the main access through a gate located along Corso Umberto I. The area around the villa, defined spatially by the position of the villa itself, is configured as an urban garden delimited by a high masonry fence. The garden is divided into several green spaces. In the northern part, the largest and best preserved, there are geometric and symmetrical flower beds, with trees and shrubs, and flower beds that are always regularly designed but with a greater presence of tall trees. These areas are bordered by curbs, paths, and paved spaces. To the south there are additional flower beds with tree species and a metal pergola covered with a climbing plant. At the back of the villa there is another green space, bordered by shrubs and characterized by a central strip intended for a bowling green. Interesting aspects
The garden was created as part of Villa Pasquini, an eclectic style building. From a compositional point of view, the vegetation creates a game of solids and voids, with flower beds and plant species of lower height that allow a more open view. The presence of oaks and oaks with large crowns determines a denser vegetation. Overall, species typical of Mediterranean vegetation prevail.
