Gonnostramatza, Turcus and Morus Museum

Gonnostramatza, Turcus and Morus Museum

Gonnostramatza, Turcus and Morus Museum

The Museum is set up in the center of the town in the old Monte Granatico, restored preserving all the original elements.
The barbarian incursions, precisely by Turks and Moors, are documented through the illustration of events, historical figures, legends, battle scenes that characterized a long and bloody period in the history of Sardinia.
The historical memory of these events is found in a plaque, kept in the nearby country church of San Paolo, from which we learn of the destruction, by Saracen, of the nearby town of Uras in 1515.
The museum is unique in its kind. The contents can be appreciated through educational panels, which also indicate the paths of Islamic raids, models of towers, human models masterfully made by artist-artisans in real size, collections of Spanish and Sardinian Islamic weapons used for eleven centuries from the 8th to the 18th century.
