Florinas, Punta Unosi Complex

The site is located on the plateau of Sa Cuguttada, at the foot of the height of Punta Unosi (controlled by the homonymous nuraghe) and overlooking the deep valley of Giunchi.
The Punta Unosi complex is one of the most important in the Florinas area.
It consists of an extensive town in which a large circular building stands out (outer diameter m 11, interior m 7.60), which has typical elements of the so-called “meeting huts”: a circular seat leaning against the walls and a central circular base on which a betylo-tower (found during the excavation lying on the wall of the room) originally rested.
The huts of the town are built around a very interesting and atypical nuragic structure (often referred to as “nuraghe Sa Cuguttada”): it is a small tower (diam. m 5.20) originally built with unworked and overlapping blocks without special care, probably covered with “tholos”; a beam (thickness m 0.80/1.00) built in isodome work, with well-worked ashlars, without sparing an entrance fee, was placed on the building.
It is difficult to say what was the function of the building, which, of course, must have been of great importance in the context of the village: the isodome architecture, in fact, is connected to the buildings of worship, and characterizes the settlement of Punta Unosi as a village-sanctuary.
The town was certainly reused in Roman times, as documented by the presence of rectangular structures and materials attributable to this period.

History of excavations
The area was the subject of some archaeological excavation campaigns conducted in the eighties of the last century by Angela Antona and Francesca Galli.

How to get
From the town of Florinas, take the municipal road to Santa Maria di Sea, paved in the first section. After about 1.3 km of the dirt road, once you reach the top of the plateau, there is a sign with the signs to get to the Nuragic village.
